We’re coming together to celebrate TEXAS this month at Mavericks! \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nThe Dallas Texas Exes are teaming up with Denton and Collin County Chapters to celebrate Texas Independence Day all month long. What better way to celebrate than by meeting more local alumni\, dancing\, and mingling at Austin based dance hall\, Mavericks. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nUPDATE: Mavericks will open early JUST FOR US to provide Texas alumni and friends with a free beginners two-step lesson from 6-7 PM! Doors open to the public at 7 PM. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nCan’t make it that early? Find us at a table near the dance floor\, and RSVP for event updates + waived cover instructions. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nNo dancing required: Come by after dinner to grab a drink with us\, enjoy the music\, and meet new faces while catching up with old friends. \n\n\n\n \n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\n\n\nIn 1900\, the Ex-Students Association (Texas Exes) adopted a resolution which states: “Whenever two Texas Exes shall meet on March 2\, they all shall sit and break bread and pay tribute to the institution that made their education possible.” \n\n\n\nMarch 2nd holds special significance as the day that commemorates the founding of The University of Texas. Established through the Texas Constitution of 1876\, the university was envisioned as a “university of the first class\,” dedicated to the promotion of literature\, the arts\, sciences\, and more. This day serves as a celebration of the foresight and vision that led to the creation of one of the nation’s leading institutions of higher education.For Texas Exes around the world\, Texas Independence Day is a moment to reflect on the university’s rich history and its enduring impact. It’s a time to come together\, honor the legacy of the university’s founding\, and recognize the role The University of Texas has played in shaping both the state of Texas and the lives of its alumni. Texas Exes TID celebrations are an expression of pride in the state of Texas\, which had the foresight to establish a “university of the first class” in the Texas constitution. Texas Exes TID events are not celebrations of Texas’ independence from Mexico.
